The image in this series of lithographs – Satiro di Mazara (Satyr of Mazara) – refers to the Greek sculpture of the Dancing Satyr. The work was accidentally discovered in 1998 by a fishing boat in the depths of the Strait of Sicily, between Pantelleria and Africa. Today it is preserved in the museum of the same name in Mazara del Vallo. A few years ago, the artist went to admire it up close, before her definitive return to the island. The emotion and sense of mystery that still surround the bronze long occupied her thoughts. From this first came a large painting, followed by a series of lithographs that include new signs and new words, as if to awaken and emphasize the wonder that has never faded before this ancient masterpiece.
